Two of my favourite bars in Amsterdam are quite different in nature. Brix fits well in downtown New York, whereas The College Hotel blends in better in The Hamptons. And if you disagree with me... I'm gladly taken to NYC so you can show me otherwise ;-)Brix - Jazz Club meets Culinary Aperitivi
A New York kinda ambiance, a multicultural menu, good-looking AND good-serving waiters. A trendy clientele, all ready to enjoy an evening with friends, food, wine and jazz. Especially on the days when there's live music, you would need to reserve a table! Brix, Wolvenstraat 16, T. 639 03 51. €€
The College Hotel - An Oasis of Tranquility

The interior, inner-courtyard of The College Hotel are of simply stunning, making it a fabulous place for business and private dinners & drinks. The College Bar is one of my favourite hang out and business meet up venue. The service has highs and lows, the some of the serving students demand a little patience. On Sundays there used to be live Jazz music, but now it is less regularly. Just check with the hotel what's on. I was less impressed with the restaurant, yet I know people who have hosted excellent private business dinners here. The College Hotel, R. Hartstraat 1, T. 571 15 11 €€
